Nonpalpable testis in Children

Abstract
The records of 574 patients who had treated surgically for nonpalpable testis between January 1986 and December 1994 were reviewed to determine the incidence, exact location and results of the treatment of nonpalpable testis. Of these 574
patients,
81
had 97 nonpalpable testes(14%). Of the 97 instances, 11 were determined to be abscent at the time of surgical exploration. Thirty testes were intraabdominal, 41 were in a preperitoneal position behind the internal inguinal ring, while 15 located
in
the
intracanalicular region. We perfomed 34 Flower-Stephens method, 33 standard orchiopexies. 12 orchiectomy, 7 microscopic testicular autotransplantation. During the mean follow up period of 6.6 years, success rate was 50 Per Cent in microscopic
testicular
autotransplantation, 75% in Fowler-Stephens method and 88% in standard orchiopexy, Although the laparoscopy can be used to be assess the accurate location of nonpalpable testis, we think that exploration is one of useful accurate method to treat
and
dignosis of the nonpalpable testis.
